Focus during Meditation

I want to make sure that you don't fall into the biggest trap when you try to meditate.

If you're a beginner, know that meditation is simple in theory but hard to implement in practice.

We are all struggling to stay focused, that's just part of the journey, but I don't want it to deter you from becoming a regular meditator; you CAN master this!

The first thing to know is that NO ONE sits there with NO thoughts.

Even monks have to practice, so we can give ourselves a break if we find ourselves losing focus. The goal is to reduce the number of thoughts and lengthen those little moments of silence we experience during our meditation practice.

If you find yourself getting distracted, don't feel discouraged; it's nearly impossible to be 100% focused on meditation.

Instead, think of your busy mind like a puppy. It wants to go everywhere and explore everything, but we must redirect it back on the path, time and time again. Just like puppies, we must train our mind for our own good and redirect our attention over and over. You notice when you've fallen off track, and, instead of getting frustrated or continuing to stay distracted, you bring your attention back to the meditation, without judgement.

This is how we take control of our thoughts.

Remember, it’s the PROCESS of returning your awareness and focus to the meditation is important; it's not about achieving complete silence and peace. You are the boss of your mind, not the other way around.

Warmly,

Gabriella

Ps. Let me know if you have any other meditation challenges so I can help.
